Steph Thompson is an experienced, qualified Forest School and Beach School Leader and Bushcraft Instructor. She has over 15 years experience of working with children and young people in various settings. And most recently, setting up and running her own company, Bushcraft Adventures.
Steph Thompson’s previous experience
Steph’s previous work experiences include five years working as a Community Projects Officer for conservation charity BTCV (now TCV), and a Youth Worker for Cardiff Council. She has also worked with young offenders in roles with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Gwent ISSP.
Steph is passionate about the outdoors. And about passing on her enthusiasm and skills to inspire both children and adults to get outdoors. So when Steph was made redundant in 2012, it felt like a natural next step to bring together all of her experiences to set up her own business running outdoor activities.
Since setting up Bushcraft Adventures in 2012, Steph has never looked back! Initially she focused on delivering children’s bushcraft birthday parties. And has since grown the business to develop a range of events for schools, corporates and adult groups.
Steph particularly enjoys working with schools and getting children outdoors. She refers to it as: adventure in learning, and learning to adventure.
Working in partnership
Steph is excited to be working in partnership with Dr. Coral Harper from Better Out Than In to deliver an exciting new workshop for teachers. This workshop is aimed at supporting professionals to understand and embed a philosophy for outdoor learning. And participants can expect to learn from both Steph Thompson and Dr. Coral Harper’s expertise in this field.
