Kids bushcraft birthday party Cardiff

Temporary lowering of age limits – great news for the kids!

As all of our “household only” events will require adults to be present & our group numbers will be small, it means we’re able to temporarily lower the age limit for some of our activities.

We’re back… let the adventures begin!

All’s good in the woods and there’s plenty of space to have some family fun and laughter 😊

It was fantastic to welcome back some of our loyal customers today, we’ve missed you!

Come and join us in Bridgend and have a go at natural shelter building and see if it’ll keep your family dry and work together as a team to light a 🔥 – no matches or lighters in sight! 👍

Getting our safety protocols in place to re-open

Today I’ve had my head down working on the laptop, reading guidance on the Welsh Government, Health & Safety Executive, World Health Organisation and other websites to get our covid risk assessment and safety protocols finalised… All in preparation to safely reopen in July (more details on our phased reopening to follow soon!)

So this evening I’ve been relaxing with a wander in my local park and chill out by the pond.

What have you been up to today? Have you been enjoying the ☀?

Autism friendly bushcraft & archery sessions in Bridgend

Come & join us for some bushcraft & archery fun in Bridgend with our autism friendly events.

We have experience working with children and adults on the autistic spectrum through our work with schools and community groups. We’d like to make our sessions more accessible. So we’re trialling some autism friendly bushcraft & archery events, which you can book on to individually. And we’ll make them a regular event if there’s interest and demand for them.

Events are 1.5 hours and tickets are £15. You can buy tickets on Eventbrite here:

Additional information about autism-friendly sessions

Who can come to autism-friendly sessions?
These sessions are for anyone on the autistic spectrum who would prefer this session.
You do not need a diagnosis.
Sessions are for children aged 7+ and adults.
You are welcome to book tickets for siblings who are not on the autistic spectrum.

Can parents / carers / support workers come along?
Yes, we would encourage you to come along.
Children aged under 18 must have a parent / adult supervising them.
1 adult to supervise up to 3 children please.
Your role is to offer support rather than being there to participate. Tickets are charged for one participant and one person to accompany them (included free of charge)

What makes it an autism-friendly session?
Activities are carried out by instructors who have completed autism-awareness training.
Sessions are more structured and we keep noise to a minimum.
There will be space available within the woodland as “quiet areas” for anyone needing some time out during the session – no one is pressured to take part.

What is the environment like where activities take place?
Activities take place in a private woodland in Bridgend (near Laleston)
It is quiet and not open to the general public.
We have a roundhouse shelter area to sit in, which will have a campfire.

Who can I contact for more information or with feedback?
If you have any questions or feedback about the information on this page or our sessions, please call or text Rachel on 07716 462 983 or email rachel@bushcraftadventures.co.uk

Springing into March with outdoor learning sessions at YBC Bridgend

After the end of a very wet February, we’re hoping that Spring is now here. And that March brings some better weather!

It’s been a lovely, fresh day today. And the end of another awesome day at YBC Bridgend running outdoor learning bushcraft sessions.

Today we’ve been honing our basic bushcraft skills and working as a team. We’ve had the kelly kettle challenge, den building, and fire lighting with flint and steel. And we filled up the log store ready for next week’s sessions (we’re prepared!) Great work everyone, see you next week 🔥

If you’re looking to take learning outdoors, drop us a line to start planning your school’s sessions with us 👍
