It was Back to School for me too today!
I’m excited to be working with YBC again this year, taking learning outdoors every Tuesday. Today was all about planning and I’m brimming with ideas. I’m looking forward to starting back with pupils in two week’s time!
I’ve also been taking bookings for teachers looking for a different way to kick start and introduce a new topic to inspire their pupils. And teachers looking for an alternative school trip to remember have already started planning it with us 👍
We cater for groups of less than ten to around 60. So if you’re looking for an outdoor learning session or planning your next school trip, do drop us a line! Steph 😊
Pupils are ‘stranded’ in a woodland in Bridgend, and must work together as a team to survive.
The summer has flown by, and the kids will soon be back in school. We know teachers have already been busy planning for the 2018-2019 academic year. But if you’re still looking for ideas and inspiration to take learning outdoors, read on!
Today I welcomed pupils from Tai Education Centre in RCT to our Bridgend Bushcraft Basecamp.
The pupils had focused on a survival topic this term in school. So to finish the topic and celebrate the end of term, pupils got to put in to practice the survival skills they’d learnt in the classroom.
We’re almost at the end of the school year and the start of the summer holidays. And we know teachers have already started planning for the next school year. Keep reading to find out more about our outdoor School Adventures in South Wales.
Archery is good for kids. It requires focus, concentration, dealing with pressure, learning how to fail and much more.
Archery is a fun and accessible sport for all ages and abilities. We run archery activities for children’s birthday parties. But it’s also a great activity for schools as part of an outdoor learning session or fun school trip. It’s great for practising mental arithmetic, team work and more. We get to see these benefits first-hand, ‘in action’ when delivering archery sessions for kids.
And we love the infographic (below) by Target Crazy which gives 25 reasons why archery is good for kids.
The three key elements or ingredients needed to start a fire are heat, fuel and oxygen. This is known as the fire triangle.
Why is the fire triangle important to fire lighting?
You need all three elements of the fire triangle to come together in the right amounts and in the right way; in a chemical chain reaction that will start a fire.
This week we welcomed Year 3 pupils from Maes Yr Haul Primary School in Bridgend, who came to us for a unique school adventure.
In December, I received a message from a teacher from Maes-yr-Haul Primary School. They wanted to run some outdoor learning sessions based on a “mythical lands” theme. Super excited, I quickly called her back to discuss ideas.
